Kp Message 11-18-19… “Mom Update”

Dad and I went to see Mom at her rehab home. It was the first time he had seen her in person for about 6 weeks.

I could tell she was thrilled to see Dad and be with him for a couple of hours. Eventually they kissed, and that’s where I got out of the room as I did not need to see any potential “R-rated” interactions.

Mom looked and sounded very clear, for the most part. She is eating somewhat better (more) than before she arrived, and her therapy has just begun. The great thing, in my mind, is that she is willing to express herself forcefully, and clearly, when she wants something or does NOT want something. She’s not “mean”, of course, but just direct.

Dad “tested” her intellect (brain) by asking questions about where certain things might be located in the house. She knew exactly where they were.

Another thing that tells us she is returning to her healthy state is that she pointed to three articles of clothing in her closet and said, “Those need to be washed.” Real meaning: “Please wash my clothes!”

We met more of her caretakers today, and they are very kind and helpful. I even found out the code to the room where they keep the ice cream and coffee!

Anyway, Mom’s behavior and attitude definitely shows that she WANTS to be here (on the planet) and she WANTS to come home to the house. I’m confident she will make it.
