This letter relates to the previous post. Yes, I am the one who “asked the question” about the significance of the “First Citizen Proclamation“. Here are a few highlights I saw in this.
“When the construction began on this project [Mauna Kea TMT], the Hawaiian community erupted… What the King saw was the political descendants of those who overthrew the Kingdom of Hawai’i Crown and Government and stole the lands belonging to the Crown and Government continuing their policies of exploiting Kingdom lands.
“As thousands came out to protect the mountain, the King saw the dawning of the next phase of Kingdom restoration. The time had come for him to step fully into his position as King without reservation. The time had come to begin the process of transferring the functions of the occupying government to the Kingdom Government, such as taxation.
“The Proclamation of First Citizen took the symbolic step of establishing the Government through granting one person citizenship. This act was not about personalities. There are tens of thousands of people waiting to become citizens in the restored Kingdom, many of whom have spent decades in the struggle to restore the nation. This act was about opening the door to creation of the citizenry.
“At the same time, in Mikahala Roy, the King did see certain qualities that illuminated key aspects of the restoration process… She has been steadfast in recognizing and supporting the King, often standing alone in her convictions. The King honored her Spirit of Aloha by selecting her as First Citizen. The fact that she is a woman also brought to the forefront the role of women in balancing the male energy and bringing peace to the community.
“Overall, the message of the Proclamation is that unity and love pave the way for the completion of our task to restore the Kingdom to its place in the community of nations and the traditional faith to its rightful place within the faith community.“
