This was quite the unusual and unexpected journey, as I presumed I’d be able to get to Kīlauea, Halemaumau, and/or possibly up to Mauna Loa Road. But all those pathways were closed. So I’m taking that as part of the reason I was there… to experience that, and to follow the path which was open (a short walk into the vegetation and plant life area) to complete this “mission”. Perhaps the message was:
“What is expected and what used to be open, is not open anymore. Discover and follow the path that is.”
