Trump calling out the MSM? (well, yes, apparently, “Big Time”)… (a 11-21-16 Politico, a DailyMail, and a NY Post)

donald_trump_politico_article_161121_300This has been “flying around” the tubes, and I checked the NY Post article (after finding it at RMN). But the NY Post was so “flamboyantly linguistic” (f-word) that I posted it on FB and asked for assistance to find other articles about this. Thanks to them, a couple more have turned up.

In one way or another, this meeting, today, 11-21-16, appears to be Trump’s way of “calling out (or on) the media” to do their jobs and “report the truth”. This certainly seems like a very positive sign that the old ways are being called out and (hopefully) removed. Personally, I was thrilled to see that someone was doing it… for all to see.

We shall see.

I’m posting the titles and a highlight of two from each, in order of decreasing “language flamboyance”. The Politico article appears to be the most balanced. The NY Post “f-word”-titled one is at the end.

Trump asks for media ‘reset,’ but lashes out at execs (Hadas Gold, Politico)

“President-elect Donald Trump on Monday told a group of about 25 television executives and anchors that he wants a “cordial” and “productive” relationship with the media, according to one source in the room, but he still aired some grievances during the off-the-record gathering in Trump Tower.

“The source said the meeting started with a typical Trump complaint about the “dishonest media,” and that he specifically singled out CNN and NBC News for example as “the worst.”

“The New York Post on Monday afternoon portrayed a much more heated meeting, including a quote from one source who said the encounter was “like a f–ing firing squad.”

“The source who spoke with POLITICO characterized the meeting as less intense, and said the discussion included Trump expressing the possibility of a “reset” of the tumultuous relationship between the president-elect and the media and that all he wants is “fairness.”

“Asked how he defines fairness by a network executive, Trump said simply, “The truth.””

‘I’m in a room full of liars’: Trump reams execs and anchors from ‘the dishonest media’… (David Martosko, Chris Spargo, Daily Mail)

“A second source, who confirmed that there was an encounter between Trump and Zucker, said: ‘Trump kept saying, “We’re in a room of liars, the deceitful dishonest media who got it all wrong.”

“This [NY Post] account differs wildly from the one Kellyanne Conway gave to members of the press after she left the meeting, which she said was ‘very cordial, very productive, very congenial.’ She went on to say that Trump was ‘very candid and honest’ in the meeting, and on a personal note stated that it was ‘great to hit the reset button’ after a ‘long, hard-fought campaign.’

“Conway responded to the story in the Post on Monday evening by saying that Trump did not ‘explode in anger,’ but did not comment beyond that.”

Donald Trump’s media summit was a ‘f—ing firing squad’ (Emily Smith, Daniel Halper, NY Post)

““Trump started with [CNN chief] Jeff Zucker and said ‘I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed,’ ” the source said.

“The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing down,” the source added.

“A second source confirmed the fireworks.”
